Eurovision 2019: Poland will select internally this year!

Eurovision 2020: Poland confirms participation at the contest in Rotterdam.

The Polish entry in 64. Eurovision Song Contest will be selected by a special committee appointed by the Polish Television (Telewizja Polska, TVP). Songs can be submitted until February 5.

Poland in Eurovision 2019

In contrast to the last three years, Polish entrant in Eurovision will be selected internally by the broadcaster. The song committee will select the entry that will represent Poland during the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv. TVP will announce the name of Polish entrant February 8. Rules of song selection can be found here (in Polish). This decision follows the victory of Roksana Węgiel in Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Węgiel was also select internally by TVP.

Poland in Eurovision

It is not the first time that Poland selects internally. Since 1994-2001 all Polish entries have been selected only by the Polish broadcaster. After two years of national finals (2003-2004), TVP came back to the internal selection in 2005. The last two times, Poland selected internally was in 2014 and 2015. It happened right after Poland came back to the contest after two years of absence. In 2014, TVP selected Donatan & Cleo with the song 'My Słowianie/Slavic Girls’ brought Poland back to the grand final of the contest. One year later Poland decided to follow the motto of Eurovision Song Contest 2015 – 'Building Bridges’ and selected Monika Kuszyńska with the song 'In the name of love’.

Eurovision 2019: Natalia Szroeder for Poland?

Polish media are rather silent in terms of speculations who can be willing to go to Tel Aviv. However, the recent report of Polish media suggests that Natalia Szroeder, who took part in the Polish national final in 2016, is currently involved in talks with the broadcaster. In 2018 her single 'Parasole’ was a huge success in the Polish airplay. It is worthy to mention that the singer is working on her new material and prepares to release the incoming single in few weeks.

Last year Poland was represented by Gromee ft. Lukas Meijer with the song 'Light Me Up’ that missed the qualification the grand final in Lisbon.

63. Eurovision Song Contest was held in Lisbon. The winner was Netta Barzilai with her song Toy.
