On Saturday evening Polish public broadcaster TVP revealed the list of national preselections’ finalist. In the final concert, on the 18th of February, we will see 10 artists chosen by a special board. One of them will represent Poland at the 62nd Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev.

From among 150 compositions sent to TVP, contest commission picked the best 10 in their opinion:

  • Kasia Moś Flashlight
  • Agata Nizińska Reason
  • Małgorzata Uściłowska (Lanberry) Only human
  • Aneta Sablik Ulalala
  • Paulla Chcę tam z tobą być
  • Martin Fitch Fight for us
  • Carmell Faces
  • Rafał Brzozowski Sky over Europe
  • Isabell Otrębus-Larsson Voiceless
  • Olaf Bressa You look good

On next Saturday these vocalists will perform on a preselection stage and the competitor classified first in a combined ranking of jury and televoters (system 50/50) is gonna hold the Polish flag on May in Ukraine. Who will be the Polish representative in Kiev? Let’s take a look at the first five candidates:

  • Kasia Moś with the song Flashlight:

Number 3 is tightly connected with this singer. Ranked 3rd in the final of the 3rd edition of Polish Must be the music, Moś will take part in national preselections for the 3rd time as well. In 2006 with I wanna know and last year singing Addiction she took respectively the 10th and the 6th place. This time, thanks to an intriguing song Flashlight, she is likely to rank much higher and fight for the ticket to Kiev. Third time lucky?

  •  Agata Nizińska with the song Reason:

Film and series actress, TV presenter, cabaret artist, singer. She began her career in theatre and then focused on cabaret shows cooperating with the top polish comedy groups. Nizińska stared in a few polish TV series and movies, created her own musical concept called Madame Pik and got a short programme in the TVP morning show Pytanie na śniadanie. As a singer she has usually made covers of songs so far. This time she will try to win Krajowe Eliminacje with composition Reason written by Marcin Kindla and duet Jud Friedman and Allan Rich – authors of the Whitney Houston hit Run To You. Her voice, similiar to Celine Dion’s, is a thing that clearly makes her stand out.

  • Małgorzata Uściłowska (Lanberry) with the song Only Human:

One of the most promising young vocalists of 2016 in Poland. Last year after releasing song Piątek she scored the first place on the popular polish radio station RMF FM music chart and the piece itself became very popular in Polish clubs. The composition Only Human, that she starts in national preselections with, is an english version of that hit. Małgorzata, like the majority of the artists from the list of finalists, competed in talent shows. She took part in X-Factor and The Voice of Poland, nevertheless she didn’t achieve a big success there.

  • Aneta Sablik with the song Ulalala:

After winning the German version of Idol called Deutschland sucht den Superstar in 2014, Sablik became a well-known vocalist not only in Germany, but also in Austria and Switzerland. Her debut single The One quickly topped music charts in these three countries; in Germany it even went gold (more than 200k singles sold). Ulalala written by Kevin Zuber, Maciej Puchalski, Heavym Gates and the singer herself is Sablik’s proposition for Krajowe Eliminacje this year.

  • Paulla (Paulina Ignasiak) with the song Chcę Tam z Tobą Być:

Paulla reached the top of her music career over the period 2007-2010. Her first album Nigdy nie mów zawsze took the 2nd place on the Polish Music Sales List and singles Od Dziś and Dwa Słowa dla Życia let her become one of the top pop stars in Poland. Later, due to health and personal problems, her professional life slowed down. Chcę Tam z Tobą Być (I Want To Be There With You), written by Michał Kacprzak, is the only song sung in Polish in the final of national preselections.
