It is certain! Poland will host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019. Polish public broadcaster – Telewizja Polska released the exciting news this morning.

Junior Eurovision 2019: Poland will host the event

Straight after the Polish victory at Junior Eurovision 2018 in Minsk, the CEO of Polish broadcaster – Telewizja Polska (TVP), Jacek Kurski, has declared preliminary interest in hosting Junior Eurovision next year. This fact is now official and both European Broadcaster Union (EBU) and TVP have confirmed that young singers will compete next year in Poland.

The city that will host Junior Eurovision will be the winner of the bidding process. It is the most likely that we will get to know the city and the venue in next couple of months. Among potential cities are Krakow (Tauron Arena), Gdańsk/Sopot (Ergo Arena) or Gliwice (Gliwice Arena).

„We are delighted to announce Poland as our Host Country, and TVP as our Host Broadcaster, for Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019 and once again congratulate Roksana Węgiel on her spectacular winning performance at this year’s Contest. It is always exciting to bring the event to a new Host Country for the first time, and we look forward to seeing TVP’s vision for Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019 come to life over the forthcoming year.” – Jan Ola Sand, the EBU supervisor

Junior Eurovision: host selection

In contrast to the adult version of the contest, the victory in Junior Eurovision does not guarantee the right to host the following contest. So far EBU did not prepare a clear mechanism of host selection. Most of hosts were decided based on offers prepared by specific broadcasters. However, five times the hosting of Junior Eurovision has been preceded by the victory of a given country.

Let’s remind that Roksana Węgiel won Junior Eurovision 2018 which was held in Minsk (Belarus). Polish singer won with song Anyone I want to be, which received 215 points in total and stay ahead of entries from France and Australia.
