Big day for the Polish fans! Not one but two big names unexpectedly submitted their songs to the Polish National Final. The icon of Eurovision Song Contest in Poland – Edyta Górniak, and Margaret who takes the charts by storm are one step closer to Eurovision.

During a radio interview broadcast today, Edyta Górniak, Polish participant in ESC 1994, revealed that she submitted a song to the Polish National Final. The song is entitled Grateful. Singer said that she is not sure if she will be able to beat her result from 1994 (2nd place) taking into account that the Contest is totally different nowadays. She however said that she had at last found a bit of courage to face the competition once again.

Górniak has released several albums (sold in over 1 milion copies) and numerous singles which reached the charts in countries like Germany, Spain, Portugal or Sweden. Moreover, she received numerous awards, including Frederyk (annual award given by the Polish music industry), Viva Comet Awards and ESKA Music Awards.

Another surprising news is that Margaret – young but popular artist has also sent her song to the Polish National Final. The singer revealed that the title of her song is Cool Me Down and is written in her typical style but attuned to ESC audience. Margaret (Małgorzata Jamroży) joined the first league of the Polish music industry with song Thank You Very Much, which caught attention with a controverial videoclip. This song has reached charts in Austria, Germany and Italy. Subsequent singles only saw the initial success repeated. The young singer has released one longplay album so far. As in the case of Edyta Górniak, Margaret has received several important awards including MTV Music Award for Best Polish Act in 2015.

In both cases, these exciting news were intepreted by some Polish media as a new hope for potentially bringing the trophy to Poland for the very first time. Several international ESC fan portals reported about this unexpected news from Poland, heralding the potential return of ESC diva Edyta Górniak to ESC stage. With her fresh and up-to-date attitude, Margaret, too, brings additional attention to the Polish National Final which will take place March 5.

  1. Margaret – big name ?
